CHED: 89% of personnel, 76% of students in tertiary level vaccinated vs Covid-19

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) cited the continued increase in the Covid-19 vaccination rate among tertiary students and higher education institution (HEI) personnel.

Citing data as of May 16, CHED said that 89 percent of HEI teaching and non-teaching personnel in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and 76 percent of tertiary students nationwide have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

“We're getting there!” CHED said.

The Commission also reiterated its appeal to students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel at the tertiary level to get vaccinated and help the country “reach herd immunity.”

Based on CHED’s data, there are 281,483 reported teaching and non-teaching HEI personnel. Of this number, 89.28 percent or 251, 297 are already vaccinated.

CHED noted that 98 percent of the total HEI personnel have been vaccinated while the remaining two percent were partially vaccinated.

Meanwhile, CHED said that there are 3,971, 034 reported tertiary students.

Of this number, 3,005,871 or 75.69 percent have been vaccinated. Of the total number of vaccinated students, CHED said that 81 percent have been fully vaccinated while 19 percent were partially vaccinated.

The vaccination update was based on the reports of HEIs received by respective Regional Offices of CHED.
