Southwesterly surface wind flow to continue to bring rain showers, thunderstorms over Luzon this weekend

Due to the prevalence of the southwesterly surface wind flow, most of Luzon will continue to experience scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms until Sunday, May 22, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its weekly weather outlook issued on Friday, May 20.

Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon or evening rain showers and thunderstorms.

From Monday until Tuesday, May 23 to 24, PAGASA said the western section of northern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the southwesterly surface wind flow, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon or evening rain showers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA said that by Wednesday until Thursday, May 26 to 27, Northern Luzon and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms because of the prevalence of the southwesterly surface wind flow and the intertropical convergence zone, respectively.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies, afternoon rain showers, and thunderstorms.

PAGASA is not expecting a tropical cyclone development throughout the outlook period but will issue weather advisories if significant changes in the weather scenario occur.
