Siregar submits Catalan in first round

Elipitua Siregar only needed three minutes in the first round to submit Filipino contender Robin Catalan in ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs Vienot at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Friday night, May 20.

Siregar of Indonesia pulled off a swift anaconda choke at the 2:25 mark and held on to his grip in the latter seconds to submit Catalan.

Catalan was in a bad position for a quick escape and endured the submission for 25 seconds before tapping out.

After an exchange of strikes in the first two minutes, Siregar scored the first takedown and took control of the ground en route to the submission victory.

Siregar improved to a 5-2 record while Catalan suffered the first defeat of 2022 with an overall 10-8 slate.

Prior to the match, the Filipino fighter also yielded to Japanese opponent Ryuto Sawada last January 2021 off a rear-naked choke.
