Pinoys elated as South Korea set to resume issuance of tourist, other visas

Filipinos are excited with the news that the South Korean government will resume the issuance of all types of visa including tourist visa (C-3-9).

One of them is K-pop fan Kat who will be attending the Seoul concert of K-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) titled "Act: Love Sick" on July 2.

Due to the pandemic, South Korea has prohibited the entry of tourists.

But with the continued decrease in the daily number of Covid-19 cases, South Korea has announced that it will resume the issuance of all types of visas starting June 1.

The South Korean Embassy in Manila posted an announcement about the visa on its website on May 19.

It read:

“Please be informed of the below changes in visa issuance from June 1, 2022 (Wed).

“1. Application and issuance of all types of visa, including tourist(C-3-9) will resume.

“2. Multiple entry visa issued before April 5, 2020, which has not expired, may be used without re-application.

“3. Submission of Consent for Isolation will no longer be required.

“Detailed information, such as visa application procedure, will be announced soon.”

Regarding Covid-19 tests, the Korean Embassy also stated that “for all travelers entering the Republic of Korea, a supervised negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result will be additionally accepted from May 23, 2022.”

“The test must be performed and the PCR negative certificate must be issued within 48 hours (two days) before the departure date. A supervised negative COVID-19 RAT result must be issued within 24 hours prior to the departure date,” it said.

According to the embassy, for example, “If you are departing from a country to Korea on May 23, 2022 at 10:00, you must submit your negative PCR test result taken after 00:00 on May 21, 2022 or supervised negative RAT result taken after 00:00 on May 22, 2022.”

Those who are entering Korea must register their quarantine information through the Q-Code website “in order to shorten the time for quarantine inspection and provide the conveniences overseas entrants require upon entry to the Republic of Korea.”
