Muntinlupa's one-week tally of new Covid-19 cases down to 12

Muntinlupa City’s one-week tally of new Covid-19 cases has decreased to 12 compared to the previous week.

Data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that Muntinlupa recorded 12 new Covid-19 cases from May 13 to 19, down 45 percent from 22 new cases tallied from May 6 to 12.

The Department of Health (DOH) recently confirmed the local transmission of the highly contagious Omicron BA.2.12.1 subvariant in the country.

Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire had earlier said the DOH is monitoring seven local government units in Metro Manila, which posted positive growth in cases in one week although the increase in cases is not a cause for alarm.

These are Muntinlupa, Pateros, Pasay, Quezon City, Caloocan, Marikina, and Pasig, the DOH said.

The LGUs and the DOH have different data on Covid-19 cases.

As of May 19, based on CHO data, Muntinlupa has 11 active cases, a slight increase of three from eight on May 18.

Of the 11 active cases, three are listed in Barangay Tunasan, three in Ayala Alabang, two in Cupang and one each in Poblacion, Putatan, and Bayanan. Three barangays are Covid-19-free -- Alabang, Buli, and Sucat.

Muntinlupa recorded three new Covid-19 cases, and zero recoveries and deaths on May 19. To date, the city has 39,999 confirmed cases, 39,374 recoveries, and 614 deaths since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa CHO is preparing for the "Chikiting Bakunation," a DOH program that aims to vaccinate children who failed to receive or have yet to get any routine vaccine.

The program will be held in Muntinlupa from May 30 to June 10. This aims to vaccinate children zero to 23 months old.

The vaccination campaign will be done through house-to-house or at designated sites. The administration of Covid-19 vaccines for kids five to 11 years old will also be held.
