Sara tells Pinoys to respect poll outcome

Let's all respect the outcome of the upcoming May 9 elections.

Vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte made this appeal Monday, May 2 during her appearance at Net 25's Sa Ganang Mamamayan program, even as candidates for national positions gear up for the "miting de avances" of their respective tickets.

“Lahat po tayo dapat respetuhin natin kung ano 'yung resulta ng eleksyon at suportahan natin 'yung mga mananalo, 'yung mga ihahalal ng ating mga kababayan (We should all respect whatever the result of the election would be and support the winners, those who will be elected by the people),” Duterte said.

“We should all pray for honest, orderly and peaceful elections. Let’s love our country,” added the lady official, who chairs the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) party.

Should she win, Duterte, 43, a lawyer will hold a national position for the first time in her political career.

The presidential daughter has been a consistent survey frontrunner, along with her election partner, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Bongbong Marcos. Duterte and Marcos comprise the so-called UniTeam.

In the course of her interview in the program that was carried out by Senator Francis Tolentino, Duterte wished Filipino workers a belated happy Labor Day, which the country celebrated on Sunday, May 1.

“We will continue to push for the implementation of workers’ rights in our country,” she said.

The vice president aspirant likewise greeted Muslim Filipinos on the celebration of Eid’l Fitr, or the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

“Eid Mubarak. We always pray for Allah’s mercy on our country and for all our countrymen,” she said.

The UniTeam will hold the first of its three miting de avances on Tuesday, May 3.
