Pangilinan to local politicians: Don't play safe, make a stand now

With only six days away from election day, aspiring vice president Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan urged local leaders, who remain mum on who to support for the two highest positions in the country, to finally make a stand publicly.

Pangilinan, during the Bulakeño para kay Kiko People's Rally in Bulacan on Monday, May 2, told local politicians that the people are already making a stand, it's time for them to follow suit.

“Sa ating mga kapwa politiko, nakikiusap ako, huwag na tayong lumaro. Manindigan na tayo. May oras pa. Ang taumbayan maliwanag na tumataya na (To our fellow politicians, I am encouraging you, stop playing. Let's make a stand now. There's still time. The people are clearly making a stand),” Pangilinan said.

The senator reminded local leaders that there is no place for playing safe in an election that will dictate the country’s fate for the next six years.

"Ang taumbayan na ang tumataya. Hindi maaaring ang taumbayan ay tumataya na tapos ang mga lider ay play safe pa. Tumaya na tayo. Ipanalo na natin ito (The people are already making a stand. A leader must not play safe while the people are already making a stand. Let's make a stand now. Let's win this),” he added.

The vice presidential aspirant also asked the volunteers’ fervor to never wane as there are voters who decide at the last minute.

“Six days to go, mag (let's do) house-to-house na tayo. Kumbinsihin na natin ang ating mga kababayan – iyong mga mga Andy (undecided) para maging Daisy (decided). Nasa atin ang momentum. Nararamdaman natin marami na ang nakukumbinse (Let's convince our fellowmen– those who remain undecided to be decided. The momentum is on our side. We can feel that many have been convinced),” he said.

He told them to reach out to the undecided voters until May 7 as many voters remain undecided until the election day that sometimes they only rely on popularity.

During the rally, Pangilinan's hands were raised by several local politicians and members from various groups in the agriculture, education, and transportation sectors, signifying their support for his candidacy.

Pangilinan barnstorms Bulacan before going to Baguio for another leg of campaign activities. Bulacan is the fifth vote-rich province with over 2 million voters. During his three senatorial runs in 2001, 2007, and 2016, Pangilinan cracked the Magic 12 in this province.
