Over P1.6-M 'shabu' seized from 9 suspects in Caloocan, QC

Police confiscated more than P1.6 million worth of alleged shabu and arrested nine suspects in three separate buy-bust operations conducted in the cities of Caloocan and Quezon on Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) said three suspects, identified as Esmeralda Pangyarihan, 28, from Barangay 132, Caloocan City; Rakim Batua,18; and Mohammad Umpa, 20, both from Quiapo, Manila; yielded a total of P1,373,600 worth of shabu.

The CCPS Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), led by Lt. Gilmer Marinas, launched the entrapment operation against the suspects along General Concepcion Street, Barangay 132, Caloocan City, at around 5:30 p.m. on May 1.

Seized from the suspects were four plastic bags containing around 202 grams of shabu worth P1,373,600.

Another buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in Brgy. Sta. Monica, Quezon City on the same day resulted in the seizure of P136,000 worth of alleged shabu from four suspects.

The QCPD Pasong Putik Station (PS 9) said Jose Dela Cruz, 54; Peter Dela Cruz, 33; Editha Dela Cruz, 56; and Cheryl Quiambao, 43; all from the said barangay, were arrested at around 12:40 p.m.

Aside from the 20 grams of shabu, authorities also recovered a cellphone, a coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, two drug suspects were also nabbed by the QCPD Talipapa Station (PS 3) personnel in an entrapment operation in Brgy. Tandang Sora, Quezon City on Saturday, April 30.

Police identified the suspects as Luiz Lorenzo Lim, 20; and Mar Delos Santos, 21; both residents of Barangay Tandang Sora.

According to the police, the PS 3, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), arrested the suspects along Sixto Street at around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspects yielded 15 sachets of alleged shabu valued at P102,000, a cellphone, and the buy-bust money.

The total value of the alleged shabu confiscated by the police from the suspects was placed at P1,611,600.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said.
