Muslim community in Pasig welcomes Eid'l Fitr with congregation prayer

Members of the Muslim community in Pasig City gathered at the Plaza Rizal Park to welcome the celebration of Eid'l Fitr on Monday morning, May 2.

The assembly for the congregation prayer began at around 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.

According to the Pasig City Police Station (CPS), around 1,000 Muslim men, women, and children joined the event.

They sat on mats laid on the ground and were organized in rows.

They listened to the Imam deliver his sermon to the crowd, stressing the essence of good morals, honesty, and kindness in the Islam faith.

He reminded the community to continue caring for their neighbors, and include their Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world in their prayers.

The event was organized primarily by the Pasig Chapter of the Imam Council of the Philippines.

Participating in the event were the Muslim personnel of the Pasig City Police Station (CPS), led by Staff Sgt. Cesar C. Formentera Jr., and members of the Salaam Police who facilitate community-building efforts between the police and the Muslim communities in the city.

Col. Roman C. Arugay, the chief of police of the Pasig CPS, gave a short message during the event, lauding the Muslim people for their sacrifices during the holy month of Ramadan.

Arugay also ensured the Muslim community of the local police force's support in the activities that they may hold in relation to their celebration.

Eid'l Fitr, or the Feast of Breaking the Fast, marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Following the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta's declaration of Eid'l Fitr to be on Monday, May 2, the national government declared Tuesday, May 3, as a nationwide regular holiday in solidarity with the Muslim communities all over the country.
