MDDA will be a boon to Davao, Mindanao--Mayor Sara

Following the singing of Republic Act (RA) 11708, UniTeam vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is optimistic that the newly-formed Metropolitan Davao Development Authority (MDDA) will boost the Davao region and Mindanao as a whole.

The new law is titled "An Act Creating Metropolitan Davao Development Authority,."

Duterte, during an interview Monday, May 2, listed three different ways the MDDA could push development in the Davao Province.

She described how body will handle socioeconomic growth and development within Metropolitan Davao.

"Unang una po sa peace and order dahil wala naman kaseng borders na tinitignan ang kriminalidad at illegal na activities so minsan yung mga nangyayari sa kapitbahay namin ay connected din dito sa amin (First of all, it will benefit the peace and order situation because crime and illegal activities know no borders, so sometimes what happens to our neighbors also happens to us)," Duterte said during an interview on Net 25's Sa Ganang Mamamayan.

"Pangalawa is solid waste management dahil meron tayong maliliit na local government unuts (LGUs) na hindi nila kaya na magtayo ng landfill or iba pang mga sistema for solid waste management so maganda 'yung merong collaborative effort yung mga LGUs on this matter (Second is solid waste management because we have small LGUs that are unable to put up landfills or other systems for solid waste management. So it's good to have a collaborative effort between LGUs on this matter)," she said.

"And of course traffic management and transportation dahil nagshe-share din kami ng mga residents dito sa Davao City and sa mga kapitbahay namin so meron kaming exchange of people lagi everyday, thousands ang exchange namin both sides north and south dahil yung iba nakatira dito sa Davao City nagtatrabaho sa kapitbahay namin or yung mga kapitbahay namin nagtatrabaho sa Davao City (we residents of Davao City and our neighbors share so everyday, the north and south sides exchange thousands of people because some live in Davao City but work in neighboring areas and vice versa," Duterte explained.
