Mayor Aguilar urges Las Pinas residents to be responsible pet owners

The Las Piñas City government advised city residents to be responsible pet owners and urged them to immediately seek medical assistance once bitten or scratched by their pet dogs and cats.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said once pet owners suffer bites or get scratched by their pets, they need to clean their wounds immediately with running water and soap for 10 minutes.

Aguilar said it is important not to cover their wounds and visit the animal bite treatment center or the nearest health centers for treatment and get vaccinated against rabies.

She said rabies is harmful to the health of every individual and may lead to death once bitten by dogs or cats with the disease.

The mayor also told owners that their pets need to receive anti-rabies vaccines yearly.

Aguilar said the City Veterinary Services Office (CVSO) conducts barangay-wide free mass vaccination by schedule. The CVSO can also visit them to give anti-rabies shots to their dogs and cats.
