As reelected Senator Risa Hontiveros aims to build a legitimate minority in the Senate, she said that she is willing to let Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III become the minority floor leader.

This, as Hontiveros revealed that she had already contacted Pimenetel, but noted that such is still “exploratory.”

“Ang priority ko ay makabuo kami ng minorya (My priority is to create a minority). If Senator Koko is interested to lead it, so be it,” she told the media after being proclaimed winner of the 2022 senatorial race.

“Ang importante maging tunay kaming minorya, makapag-fiscalize, check and balance, at makapagtrabaho with majority (The important thing is that we come the real Minority , to fiscalize, check and balance, and work with the majority),” the senator emphasized.

After talking to Pimenetel about the possibility of creating a minority in the Senate, Hontiveros said they “may be sharing the same dream of building that minority.”

Among the opposition’s senatorial candidates, Hontiveros was the only bet who secured a Senate seat.

During the recently concluded polls, she garnered 15,420,807 votes.
