Sibol women's Wild Rift team reaches SEAG semis with clean slate

The Sibol Wild Rift Women's team booked a spot to the semifinals of the 31st Southeast Asian Games Wild Rift esports event on Tuesday, May 17 at Vietnam National Convention Center.

It was a dominant display for the national women's team which is composed of the members of Wild Rift SEA Champions Grindsky Eris as they secured the top seed with a clean 4-0 slate.

It started off with a convincing victory of Thailand, 22-14, before following it up with a 22-11 domination of Singapore. The Filipinas then blew past Laos, 33-6, and capped the night with a statement 20-4 victory over the biggest threat to their medal bid in the hosts Vietnam.

Sibol will now face the No. 4 seed which can be either Thailand or Singapore in the medal round. A win in that match would assure the esports contingent its first medal in this edition of biennial meet.

Meanwhile, the Filipino bets in PlayerUnknown's Battleground - Mobile (PUBG-Mobile) individual event fell short of a podium finish.

Raymond "H2R" Basilio and Reimon "Rymon" Casido were the country's closest bet for the medal after finishing the 10-map tournament at the fifth and eighth spots respectively.

Rymon who climbed up from rank 15, fell short with just 92 points across his name, just eight points shy from the bronze medalist from Thailand, while H2R, who once held the first and second place in the first three rounds of the tournament, couldn't sustain the hot start and wound up with an 80 points total.

They still have a shot of for the medal when the PUBG team event fires off on Wednesday, May 18.
