Robredo turns nostalgic as youngest daughter finishes college in a ‘blink’

Vice President Leni Robredo has accomplished every parent’s dream: see all of her children finish college with Jillian, the youngest, earning her double degree in Economics and Mathematics from the prestigious New York University (NYU) on full scholarship.

The Vice President, who is currently in New York with her three daughters, will attend Jillian’s graduation on May 18 (9 p.m. Manila Time) at the Yankee Stadium.

Photos of the New York University’s graduation announcement posted by VP Leni Robredo on her Facebook page.

She shared in a Facebook post a photo of the graduation announcement, which stated that Jillian is officially a candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics and Mathematics during the school’s 189th commencement exercises.

“We already received yesterday Jillian’s grad announcement. Time flew by so fast,” Robredo wrote on Facebook.

“Parang papasok palang (sa) college, then, sa isang iglap, tapos na (It’s like she’ll just enter college, then, in a blink, it’s finished),” she added.

Jillian is the youngest of Robredo’s three daughters with the late former Interior and Local Governments secretary Jesse Robredo, who died in a plane crash in 2012.

At that time, only the eldest Aika was working while second child Tricia was attending the Ateneo de Manila University’s health sciences program. Tricia passed the medical boards in 2020.

The Robredos flew to the United States last weekend, after holding a thanksgiving rally for their supporters on Friday night.

They were welcomed by dozens of supporters in the airport. Robredo was caught on video laughingly asking the Filipinos to be quiet because they were chanting “Leni! Leni! Leni!”

On their Instagram stories, the Robredos shared their everyday activities in New York with Aika, Tricia, and their mom waiting in a park for Jillian to finish her school duties.

They also posted photos having lunch and doing the grocery in a famous US grocery chain.

On her own Instagram story, Robredo shared how much she had to walk while in New York, mentioning her dream of a walkable city.

The Vice President earlier apologized to US-based supporters for being unable to meet them since this is the first time since 2012 that all four were together on a trip.

Robredo said she opted to simply spend time with her daughters.
