Parañaque City LGU to distribute financial assistance to college students next week


The Parañaque City government will release the financial assistance to college students next week after it was postponed due to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) resolution that prohibits the release, disbursement or expenditure of public funds during election period.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez announced Monday that the distribution of the college financial assistance will be held at the Parañaque Sports Complex on May 23 and 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Olivarez said college students set to receive the financial aid on May 23 are those living in Barangays Baclaran, Don Galo, La Huerta, San Dionisio, San Isidro, Sto. Nino, Tambo and Vitalez.

He said the beneficiaries scheduled to get the financial grant on May 24 are from Barangays BF Homes, Don Bosco, Marcelo Green, Mwerville, Moonwalk, San Antonio, San Martin cde Porres and Sun Valley.

Mar Jimenez, Public Information Office (PIO) chief, said students with grades of 82 to 85 will receive P3,500 per semester or a total of P7,000 for the whole year, while those with ceiling grades of 86 and above will receive P5,000 per semester or a total of P10,000 for two semesters.

Jimenez reminded student beneficiaries to bring the original and photo copies of their school ID, official school registration form for the first semester of school year 2021-2022, ballpen, and alcohol.

He said students were also reminded to wear their school uniforms and school organizational shirts, and avoid wearing sleeveless shirts, miniskirts and shorts.

The PIO chief also said that in case the students is not available, he or she may assign any representative to claim their financial assistance, with duly signed authorization letter and other documents needed in claiming the financial grant.

Jimenez added that only students and authorized representatives will be allowed to enter the venue to maintain physical distancing.
