Clinton Bautista erases PH mark in hurdles win

Clinton Bautista took the spotlight with a record-breaking performance to provide the Philippine athletics team its lone gold medal Monday in the 31st Southeast Asian Games at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Bautista clocked 13.78 seconds to retain the men’s 110-meter hurdles crown and reset the five-year-old national mark of 13.91 seconds made by Patrick Unso at the 2017 Thailand Open.

Bautista’s feat came before Alyanna Nicolas settled for the bronze medal in the women’s pole vault with 3.60 meters behind eventual winner Nor Sarah Adi Binti of Malaysia, who vaulted 4.00m.

Jelly Casalme also came in bronze in the women’s 110m hurdles with a time of 13.720sec.

So far, the PH athletics team has harvested three gold, four silver and 10 bronze medals.
