1.61% poll returns mismatch could be due to volunteers' 'typo errors' — PPCRV

The 1.61 percent mismatch recorded by Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in the election returns over the weekend could be due to volunteers' typographical error, an official of the poll watchdog said.

"I wanted to caution on the 1.6 percent mismatch. It doesn't mean that it is the whole ballot that's not matching," PPCRV Chairperson Myla Villanueva said in an ANC interview on Monday, May 16.

"Sometimes, you know, a volunteer is tired and may have had the typo because we match this two times over," Villanueva explained.

The PPCRV chairperson also said that they have looked into the mismatch and "in the next few days (it) can be explained why there was a mismatch."

The mismatch was reported by the church-based poll watchdog on Saturday, May 14.

It came from the second batch of election returns up for validation, which produced a 98.39 percent match rate. The first batch of poll returns processed had recorded 100 percent match from the digitally transmitted election returns.
