SSS warns eight delinquent employers in Calapan City on contributions

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Social Security System has warned eight big establishments in this city to settle their outstanding obligations or else it will file legal action against them for non-compliance of the Social Security Act of 2018 or Republic Act No. 11199.

Imelda Familaran, branch head of SSS Calapan City, said they have given the eight employers to pay in full their SSS obligations on or before May 18 without paying any penalties under an SSS-initiated condonation scheme.

Failure on the part of the employers in question to comply with their obligations will result in the filing of criminal cases in court, said Lawyer Marc Villanueva, acting head of Legal Department of SSS Luzon South Division who accompanied Familaran in personally serving the demand letters to the delinquent employers.

Villanueva said the condonation scheme which was included under the SSS Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign started on Nov. 14, 2021 and had an original deadline on Feb. 14 this year but was extended this May.

The SSS legal officer said all employers who are required to pay their corresponding obligations should at all times comply with the monthly payments in order to avoid legal problems as well as penalties in the future.

All the subject employers and others that are in the same situation have also been given an option to avail of the SSS Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program-Enhanced Installment Payment Program (PRRP 3) which requires the payment of penalties, Familaran said.

Familaran and Villanueva, together with Francisco Lescano, acting head of Luzon South Division, Antonio Argabioso, senior vice-president of Luzon Operations Group, SSS-Calapan staff, and selected members of the media, served the demand letters on Friday.
