PPCRV so far receives over 60,000 physical poll returns

Physical election returns received by poll watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) reached more than half of poll returns from all precincts in the country on Sunday, May 15.

The church-based poll watchdog announced that as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday, they have received a total of 60,848 election returns (ERs).

This is 56.45 percent of the 107,785 total number of precincts in the country.

The bulk of the ERs came from northern and southern provinces of Luzon, with 38,770 ERs.

A total of 10,033 ERs came from the National Capital Region (NCR) while 9,169 ERs were transported from Visayas and 2,876 from Mindanao.

According to the PPCRV, they are expecting to process about 70 percent of election returns, duplicating their 2019 goal.

Starting on Saturday, May 14, the poll watchdog reduced its operating hours from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight.

On Sunday to Monday, its operating hours are further reduced to only 12 hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) accredited citizens arm will operate until May 20 and may extend its operations beyond May 20 if they continue to receive ERs.

The PPCRV command center is stationed at the Quadricentennial Pavilion inside the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila.

If they are to extend their operations, they will transfer to a smaller venue, the PPCRV said.

The PPCRV's post-election day commitment is to conduct parallel count by encoding physical election returns and matching them with the electronically transmitted poll returns which were both generated by vote-counting machines in every polling precincts in the country.
