What does the future have in store for Sotto? Even he doesn't know

Senate President Vicente Sotto III admits that he does not know what the future brings once the 18th Congress adjourns sine die on June 3.

Sotto, 73, landed on third spot in the May 9, 2022 vice presidential race. He has been working for 24 years in the 24-member Senate.

‘’At the moment. I don't know what future holds for me at this point. 'Di ko pinag-iisipan basta ang iniisip muna natin relax (I am not thinking about it but I am thinking of relaxing),’’ he told Senate reporters.

Sotto is preparing to preside over the last two weeks of Senate plenary sessions in the current 18th Congress. These start on May 23.

On May 24, the panels of the Senate and the House of Representatives will convene into a National Board of Canvassers to canvass the votes and officially proclaim the winners in the May 9, 2022 presidential and vice presidential elections. The proclamation may probably take place on May 27.

Both legislative chambers will adjourn sine die on June 3, marking the end of the 18th Congress.

After the grueling 90-day political campaign and the May 9 national and local elections, Sotto is tired and has already started his vacation.

Asked if he is going out of the country, Sotto replied: ‘’Hindi (no), I am going to work in lowering my handicap again.’’

This means he will resume playing golf at Southwoods in Laguna.

And what is his handicap?

‘’Ang (the) current its hovering between 9 and 10. It used to be 3 to 5. Since I became Senate President my handicap started going up,’’ he pointed out.
