Tolentino lauds PH kickboxing team's stellar performance in 31st SEAG
Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas (SKP) President Senator Francis ‘Tol’ Tolentino on Saturday, May 14 lauded the stellar performance of the country’s kickboxing team in the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Filipino kickboxers Jean Claude Saclag and Gina Iniong both bagged gold in the men’s low kick 63-kilogram (kg) final and female’s low kick 60-kg final on Friday evening after outclassing their respective opponents inside the at Bac Ninh Gymnasium.
Four other female members of the national kickboxing team were also able to produce silver medal finishes during Friday’s tournament finale.
These are Claudine Veloso (women’s low kick, 52 kg), Gretel de Paz (women’s full contact, 56 kg), Zephanya Ngaya (women’s full contact, 65 kg), and Renalyn Daquel (women’s full contact, 48 kg).
Tolentino attributed the outstanding accomplishment of the national kickboxing team to the dedication and discipline of the athletes who underwent rigorous training in Mountain Province for several months prior to their stint in Vietnam.
“We salute their discipline that led to their success,” said Tolentino.
The Philippine kickboxing team has contributed two golds and four silvers thus far—the biggest in the country's efforts for this year’s SEAG campaign.
