Reelected Iloilo City mayor Treñas vows more developments

ILOILO CITY -- Reelected Mayor Jerry Treñas vowed to bring more progress to Iloilo City, the regional capital of Western Visayas.

“Salamat guid sa inyo suporta kag padayon nga pagpalangga. Padayon lang ang pag-uswag sang Iloilo! (Thank you for all the support and love. Let’s continue bringing progress to Iloilo),” said Treñas, who won overwhelmingly with 187,691 votes.

This will be the fifth term for Treñas, who also served as city mayor from 2001 to 2010. He regained the mayoralty seat in 2019, after serving three consecutive terms as congressman.

With a fresh mandate, Treñas vowed to finish other projects, including the re-development of the public plazas and markets.

Treñas also vowed to invite more investors to the city. His win coincided with this week’s visit of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP).

The allies of Treñas including Congresswoman Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda and Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon were also reelected.

Out of the 12 seats for Iloilo City Council, 10 were from the slate of Treñas.

The new city council will be composed by Sedfrey Cabaluna, Miguel Treñas, Alan Zaldivar, Frances Grace Parcon, Urminico ‘Dok Nic’ Baronda Jr., Rudolph Ganzon, Rex Sarabia, Candice Tupas, Johnny Young, Romel Duron, Ely Estante Jr., and Plaridel Nava.
