Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairperson Saidamen B. Pangarungan on Thursday, May 12, bellied allegations that he was biased against “losing candidates” in Lanao del Sur.

According to news reports, Pangarungan was reportedly related by blood to two candidates in Lanao del Sur.
“The allegations of bias vs me from losing candidates are baseless. There is absolutely no proof of bias on my part,” he said in a message sent to reporters.
The Comelec chief said there is no valid ground for him to inhibit “over my province Lanao del Sur.”
“All my actions there are above board,” Pangarungan insisted.
He also assured that he has no personal relations with Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) Joyce Moran “that will taint her designation as PES of Lanao del Sur.”
“The PES Atty. Joyce Moran is a career official who rose from the ranks,” Pangarungan said
