Kakie Pangilinan clears: 'We are not protesting election results'

Kakie Pangilinan, daughter of Kiko Pangilinan and Sharon Cuneta, earned mixed reactions joining several other protesters that gathered at the Palacio Del Gobernador in Intramuros, Manila, Tuesday, May 10.

A video interview of her there went viral.

She related, “Sabi ng iba na we have to accept defeat daw…na hindi raw tayo marunong matalo. I think the truth is, it’s not just about this election anymore e. Because I think that the data shows, clearly, this election was bought a long, long time ago and that’s something that we will not take sitting down ‘no.”

She added, “I’m not going to have my president be named Ferdinand Marcos, again, ever. It’s that simple.”

“We all know what’s right or wrong. And I think it’s very, very simple — what we have to do. If we’re not here to stand up, if we’re not here to fight, e ‘di ano pa ginagawa natin dito sa ‘Pinas? Mahal natin ang ‘Pinas e. And I think, at the core of it, that’s just really it.”

She echoed the same sentiment on Twitter, writing: "“bongbong” is not the name they will print on malacañan’s stationery and if that doesn’t unsettle you, it should."

In another tweet, she cleared that they are not protesting election results, regardless of the outcome.

"We are protesting vote-buying, vote-tampering, years of calculated disinformation, propaganda dispersion, machine politics, and all systemic injustice that led to 30 million votes for the son of an ousted dictator," she pointed out.

Later, the 21-year-old star uploaded screenshots of negative messages she has been receiving.

"a snapshot of what it’s been like, as well as what’s to come."
