Comelec to candidates: Continue removal, proper disposal of campaign materials

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has urged candidates to continue helping in the removal and recycling of campaign materials.

Poll Acting Spokesperson John Rex C. Laudiangco also appealed to them to properly dispose of their campaign materials, telling them to be “environmentally friendly.”

As such, he suggested that the campaign materials must be recycles for the sake of the environment.

“Let us dispose properly ang campaign materials. Tuloy ang paglilinis and kung maari i-recycle ang mga materials (Let’s continue cleaning and if possible let’s recycle the materials,” he said.

“‘Wag itapon kung saan saan. Makipag coordinate tayo sa NCR , LGUs and MMDA (Do not just throw them anywhere. Coordinate with the NCR, LGUs, and MMDA),” said Laudiangco.

Sample ballots

As to the appeal of an environmental group not to use sample ballots anymore, Laudiangco said the use of sample ballots is in accordance with Election Laws.

Laudiangco said providing sample ballots help voters as they can have a longer time to discern their candidates.

“Kung ipagbabawal ‘yan, dapat may karampatang Republic Act na magbabawal ng pamimigay ng sample ballots (If it will be prohibited, there should be a Republic Act that will disallow the distribution of sample ballots),” he pointed out.

“Kami sa Comelec, maganda naman tingin namin sa sample ballots, malaking tulong ‘yan (Us in the Comelec, we deem sample ballots as a big help to our voters).”
