Tricia Robredo on poll results: Nothing compared to the "heartbreak" of losing dad Jesse

Vice President Leni Robredo’s daughter, Dr. Tricia Robredo, said she is at peace and they will be alright despite reports indicating her mother lost via a wide margin to former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

While acknowledging the pain of losing the battle for the country, Tricia said this was nothing compared to the “heartbreak we felt when we lost our dad.”

But even then, “we had to soldier on – dahil maraming umaasa at may mga laban na kailangang ilaban (because a lot are hoping and there are battles we need to fight).”

“There’s grief that sows unproductive anger, but there’s a kind that reminds you of how fiercely you cared and that propels you to love and try harder. I see it in Mama. I see it in my sisters. That’s why I’m at peace, and that’s how I also know we’ll all be alright,” she posted on Instagram.

“Kaya anuman ang maging resulta at anuman ang mangyari, taas noo. Hindi dapat ikahiya ang isang pusong pagod at sugatan. Ipamalas ang pinagdaanan at ipagmalaki ang lahat ng nasaksikahan (No matter what the result and no matter what happened, hold your head high. There should be no shame in a heart that’s weary and wounded. Share what you went through and be proud of all you witnessed),” Tricia wrote.

The pain doesn’t easily go away, she added, but the love remains, which fuels them to continue.

“One of my favorite professors from college once told me, ‘if you want to save the world, you have to absorb all its pain. Hindi puwedeng walang aray’ (There can be no pain),” she said.

On Twitter, as her mother’s supporters tried to make sense of the result and allegations of irregularities in the voting process, Tricia posted a photo of the Vice President with her and sisters Aika and Jillian.

She captioned it with a finger heart emoji.

While the official canvassing of the election results has just started, the quick count from transparency servers as transmitted from polling precincts showed former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with a massive 16 million lead.
