CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) proclaimed incumbent Gingoog City vice mayor Peter Unabia as the duly-elected governor of Misamis Oriental.
PBOC chairperson Atty. Aleli Dayo Ramirez announced Unabia, from Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD), garnered 248,859 of votes from 23 municipalities and two cities in the province during May 9 elections.
Unabia beat tough opponents in incumbent Misamis Oriental 2nd district representative Juliette Uy who got 182,130 votes and incumbent Cagayan de Oro city mayor Oscar Moreno who mustered 89,404 votes.
Reelectionist incumbent Misamis Oriental vice governor Jeremy Jonahmar ‘Jigjag’ Pelaez, from Padayon Pilipino party, has also been proclaimed as the duly-elected vice governor in the province, garnering 251,042 of votes.
Pelaez defeated his brother, former Misamis Oriental vice governor Jose Mari ‘Joey’ Pelaez who garnered 154,314 of votes.
Christian Unabia, the incumbent congressman of the 1st district of Misamis Oriental, has been re-elected to the position. Meanwhile, incumbent Misamis Oriental governor Yevgeny Vicente ‘Bambi’ Emano has also been proclaimed as the duly-elected congressman for the 2nd district of the province.
For the first district board members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, incumbent board members Wayne Militante, Marlon Kho and Erik Khu have been re-elected alongside newly-elected officials Rey Buhisan and Jabi Abing Bernaldez.
For the second district, incumbent board members Sayremae Emano, Garardo Sabal and Dexter Yasay have also been re-elected alongside newly-elected board members Princess Emano and Bliss Francis Acain.
