The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines has unveiled a mural at its new home on Bayani Road in Taguig to promote the cultural exchange between the two countries.

After KCC Philippines opened its doors to the public on March 25, it partnered with the Metropolitan Museum to create a project that will showcase the culture collaboration between South Korea and the Philippines through mural artist Jappy Agoncillo.

KCC said the mural, which measures 6.7 m. in width and 4.8 m. in height, symbolizes collaboration and friendship between Korea and the Philippines as it incorporated representative and national symbols from the two countries.

Agoncillo said he wanted to mix the similarities and friendship of Filipinos and Koreans.

“For the color palette, I really want to look at the Korean traditional elements and colors, especially the palace colors. I really want to have those strong colors represent in the mural,” he said.

As KCC’s building represents a harmonization of traditional and modern Korean elements, the mural also harmonizes traditional concepts with contemporary art.

It is also an aesthetic feature for guests where they can take their pictures.

KCC added that the mural stands as a symbol of its goals for the years to come, a reminder that it now serves as the bridge between the cultural exchange and collaboration between Korea and the Philippines.
