Bulakenyos gave the tandem of Governor Daniel R. Fernando and newly-elected Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro an overwhelming victory over their closest rivals in Monday's local elections.

Fernando, who will be serving a second term, garnered a total vote of 969,852 while his rival, Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, got 573,443.
Castro garnered 747,079 votes against the 615,242 votes of Jonjon Mendoza.
Fernando and Castro thanked their province mates for their trust and confidence and vowed to further boost the programs that will rev up anew the engines of growth in the province.
He said that since the election is now over, everyone should unite.
"If God is in your heart, no amount of pressure can stop you to do good things," Fernando said shortly after he and Castro were proclaimed as the winning governor and vice governor, respectively, by the Provincial Board of Canvassers at the Capitol Gymnasium, City of Malolos, where the canvassing of votes is being held.
In the congressional race in the 1st District of Bulacan, Danilo Domingo was proclaimed winner Tuesday night, May 10.
