While thanking once again her supporters, Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday, May 10, asked them to be vigilant and ensure that whoever wins the elections will serve the people and will hear the voices of the marginalized.

The lone female presidential bet told her supporters in her hometown of Naga City to use their sadness and apprehension as fuel to demand a change in the system.
“Mangyayari lang ito pag tayo ay palaging nakabantay. Mangyayari lang ito kapag sa lahat ng oras, tayo ay lumalaban (This will only happen if we are on guard. This will only happen if, at all time, we are fighting),” Robredo said, adding that Filipinos have been complacent for a long time.
She would’ve not been confident to go to battle if her fellow Bicolanos were not with her, but she said they’ve gone through much worse, particularly when they lost her husband, former Interior secretary Jesse Robredo, in 2012.
Robredo also has one more thing to ask from her supporters who gathered at the “Misa ng Pagkakaisa at Pasasalamat” at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral.
“Sa akin, ang pinakahiling ko ngayon, na while lahat tayo nalulungkot, lahat tayo siguro ang iba hindi makapaniwala sa resulta ng eleksyon, kung ano man ang maging final result, kasi wala naman final result, tanggapin natin (For me, my plea now, that while all of us are sad, all of us cannot believe the results of the elections, whatever the final result, since there is no final result yet, let’s accept it),” Robredo said.

“Pero ang gusto ko lang sabihin na may mas malaki pang laban. Ang ating laban hindi natatapos sa eleksyon na ito. Maraming mata na nabuksan, maraming damdamin ang napukaw. Ang laban, magpapatuloy. Itong laban na ito hindi lang para manalo sa eleksyon pero laban para maging parte tayo ng mas mabuting pag-govern dito sa ating lugar (But what I want to say is there’s a bigger battle. Our fight does not end in this election. A lot of eyes were opened, a lot of emotions were ignited. The fight will continue. This battle is not only to win the elections but for us to be a part of better governance of our country),” she added.
While Robredo said her supporters’ feelings are valid and that her campaign team felt the same, she asked them to use it to advocate for change.
The Vice President doesn’t see the elections as a loss because a lot were achieved.
Robredo then thanked the Catholic Church, under the leadership of Archbishop Rolando Tirona for its part in the campaign, and for proving that fighting for what’s right will never be wrong.
While the official canvassing of the election results by Congress has yet to start, the quick count from transparency servers as transmitted from polling precincts showed former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with a massive 16 million lead over Robredo.
There was an air of defiance among the crowd of Nagueños who waited for Robredo outside the cathedral.
They voiced out their objections by loudly chanting “Hindi pa tapos (It’s not yet over)!”They also called the Commission on Elections (Comelec) “duwag (coward)”.
Some of them also held a big banner bearing the message: “No to Marcos-Duterte 2022” while the others flashed the “L(aban)” sign.
