PH's 1st Omicron subvariant case considered as 'closed'—DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) has already considered the case of the Finnish woman, who was identified as the country's first Omicron subvariant BA.2.12 case, as closed.
“We've considered this case closed already because of the time log dahil nakita rin naman natin with our close monitoring for two weeks or one incubation period, lahat po ng naging close contact nitong (as we saw during our close monitoring for two weeks or one incubation period, all the close contacts of this) Finnish woman did not exhibit symptoms at all,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Tuesday, May 10.
“We were able to close the case although we still monitor, especially in those areas na pinuntahan nitong Finnish woman (that this Finnish woman went to). But for now, wala po tayong nakikitang (we do not see any) threat or risk because of this identified or detection of this specific variant,” she added.
To recall, the Finnish woman had nine close contacts in Quezon City, five in Benguet, and 30 while she was onboard a plane going to Manila. She arrived in the Philippines on April 2.
The patient was able to recover from Covid-19 and returned to her home country on April 21.
