'Love and compassion are what matter' — de Lima

Detained Senator Leila de Lima said Tuesday she has no regrets in gunning for reelection even though partial and unofficial election results are not going in her favor as the Filipino love and compassion for each other shown during the campaign period are what matter.

"Our journey for the past three months, an uphill battle indeed, is an irreplaceable treasure. I would not have been here as Senator without your help, hard work and sacrifices," de Lima said in a statement.

"And I would not have had the strength and courage to keep fighting without your support and faith," she added.

The lawmaker said she will be forever thankful for the opportunity to be able to serve her countrymen.

All she said is that: she might get tired, but will not give up. She might get angry, but her love for the country will not wane. She will feel fear and get worried, but she will not cower in fighting for right and just.

"I will continue to fight and fight more for Truth, Justice, and Freedom," she said.

De Lima admitted feeling hurt and sad upon knowing the development of the election results, where she lagged behind many senatorial hopefuls. But she thanked her supporters and reminded them that there is a need to keep going.
