Jeannie Sandoval wins as first lady mayor of Malabon City

Jeannie Sandoval has won the mayoralty race in Malabon City, making her the first female to hold the top local post.

At around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Sandoval as the new Malabon City Mayor.

Sandoval garnered a total of 94, 547 (50.33%) votes while her rival, Enzo Oreta garnered a total of 93,547 (49.66%) votes.

“Nais kong magpasalamat sa lahat ng mga tumulong, sa lahat ng mga naniwala, nagbigay ng suporta at sasamahan ako para lumiwanag ang Maalabon (I want to thank all those who helped, all those who believed, gave support and will join me to make Malabon better),” Sandoval said during the proclamation.
