Female cadet from South Cotabato tops 2022 PMA graduating class

FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City -- An Ilongga from South Cotabato leads the 214 graduating cadets of the Philippine Military Academy ‘Bagsik-Diwa’ (Bagong Sibol ng Kinabukasan Didigma Hanggang Wakas) Class of 2022.

PMA superintendent Lt. Gen. Ferdinand Cartujano announced that Krystlenn Ivany Quemado, 21, of Koronadal City, South Cotabato topped this year’s batch.

Cartujano said that being the class valedictorian, Quemado stands to receive a number of awards, notably the Presidential Saber Award and Academic Group Award for being number one in all academic courses offered by academic groups.

Aside from Management Plaque and Social Sciences Plaque, Quemada is also set to receive the Department of Leadership Plaque, Navy Professional Plaque, JUSMAG Saber, Spanish Armed Forces award, Agfo award, Humanities Plaque and Australian Defense Best Over-all Performance award.

Miss Quemado will also be affiliated with the Philippine Navy.

Meanwhile, Baguio boy Kevin John Pastrana, 22, of Brgy. Irisan emerged as the salutatorian.

For that achievement, Pastrana will receive Vice-Presidential Saber, Air Force Saber as top Air Force cadet, Australian Defense Best Overall Performance plaque, Information Technology plaque, and Air Force Professional Courses plaque.

Ian Joseph Bragancia, 23, of Pototan, Iloilo was number 3, Faithe Turiano, 22, of Nabua, Camarines Sur was fourth and Yyoni Xandria Marie Tiu, 22, of Bago Aplaya, Davao City fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were Jake Anthony Mosquera, 23, of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, no. 6; Jesie Mar Frias, 22, of Antipolo City, Rizal, No. 7; Elvin John Oyo-a, 22, of Butuan City, Agusan del Sur, No.8; Nerfa Minong, 21, of Zamboanga City, No. 9: and Crissele Jane Rico, 22, of Zamboanga City, No. 10.

According to Cartujano, the PMA Bagsik-Diwa Class includes 165 males and 49 females, of which 52 are affiliated with the PAF, 105 in the Philippine Army and 57 in the Philippine Navy.

Among the recipients of the major awards are Maryknoll Rhea Cuis, 23 of Tanudan, Kalinga who will be honored with the Aguinaldo Saber and Department of Tactical Officers plaque for being number one in overall conduct and aptitude.

On the other hand, Dirk Kiryl Davalan, 22, of Baguio City will receive the Chief of Staff Saber award as brigade commander of the Cadet Corps Armed Force of the Philippines.
