Caraga region elections generally peaceful – police authorities

BUTUAN CITY – The regional command of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) on Monday night declared that the May 9, 2022 national and local elections in Caraga region were generally peaceful.

The Army’s 4th infantry (Diamond) Division (4th ID) monitoring and action center also announced that no untoward incident happened in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region, as different polling centers closed late Monday afternoon.

“We remain committed to keep it this way and your government troops shall continue to be vigilant as the counting and canvassing of votes are still ongoing,” said 4th ID Public Information Office chief Maj. Francisco P. Garello, Jr. and PRO 13 Regional Information chief P/Maj. Dorothy P. Tumulak in unison.

The regional Army and police information officers also call on everyone to respect the results of the election.

The two government security information officers said that the active participation of every citizen helped in ensuring peaceful and credible elections.

They said that the field commanders and directors of Army and police are still in their respective command and action centers to closely monitor the men and women in uniform who are still on the ground in an effort to continuously maintain the peace in their respective areas of jurisdictions.

Maj. Garello said the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police remain vigilant in providing security to support the Comelec for the transmission of votes.
