Mr. Teen Tourism World 2021 tells youth to dream big

Mr. Teen Tourism World 2021 Ian James Monisit has encouraged the youth to set goals and follow their dreams.

Monisit, 19, also called on young people never to give up on their ambitions.

"Ako ang unang nakapag-uwi ng international title sa lugar namin. Sana huwag silang sumuko sa mga pangarap nila at mag-aral din silang mabuti. Kung nakaya kong manalo sa pageant, kaya rin nilang makuha ito," said Monisit, during an interview recently.

Monisit lamented that many young people on their island in Masbate never pursued their dreams as they decided to settle down.

"Noong umuwi ako sa amin, konti na lamang ang mga batchmates ko na nag-aaral. Halos lahat nakapag-asawa na at may pamilya na," he said. "Hindi naman sa ayaw ko silang magkapamilya pero sana tinaguyod muna nila ang mga pangarap nila. Parang naging ganun na ang kultura sa amin na pagdating ng 18 or 19, dapat mag-aasawa na. Yung iba may anak na rin."

Monisit told his friends in the province to try pageantry and modelling, which he said will open wonderful opportunities.

"Gusto ko rin po maging artista kaya susubukan ko rin ang showbiz. Ito talaga ang pangarap ko," he added.

While pursuing a career in showbiz, Monisit said that he also prioritizes school. Currently, he's a freshman taking up hospitality management. "Importante ang pag-aaral para may fall back tayo pagdating ng araw." He promised his parents to finish school even if he decides to make a career in showbiz.

"I hope yung pagkapanalo ko ng international title ay maging role model ako sa mga kababayan ko sa Masbate. Sana matupad ang mga pangarap nila na umasenso rin sa buhay," Monisit added.
