BACOLOD CITY -- Two alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) who were wanted for the crime of murder were arrested in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Thursday.
The Army identified the arrested as Jayson John Gazon, 30, and Kenneth Nabong, 31, both residents of Barangay Buenavista.
Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of Army's 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), said the two suspects were alleged members of Sentro De Gabridad (SDG) Platoon of Central Negros 2 (CN2). The two suspects reportedly served as couriers of the group.
Pasaporte said the police served an arrest warrant for murder against the two suspects, while the Army responded to reports on the alleged presence of armed men in the area.
As couriers, Pasaporte said the two served as runners who deliver or get the supplies for the group.
Pasaporte said they are still validating if the two were part of the series of encounters in Himamaylan City in the past weeks.
No firearms were recovered from the two suspects, who are detained at Himamaylan City Police Station.
