ZAMBOANGA CITY - A police woman was killed when the patrol car she and four others were riding crashed along the national highway in Tampilisan municipality Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday, April 7.

The victims were brought to the Liloy District Hospital where Patrolwoman (PW) Florilyn Balansag was declared dead on arrival.
The four other police personnel, including the driver, were injured in the crash. They were Patrolman Ray Francisco (driver), Police Staff Sergeant Eric Panangitan, PW Princess Ann Adaza, and PW Cherrie Ann Armuganda. They are members of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.
A report from the Tampilisan Municipal Police said the five PNP personnel were traveling in a convoy in Barangay Sto Niño at around 3:20 p.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle which hit a mahogany tree beside the road.
Police said the road was slippery due to heavy rains in Zamboanga del Norte at the time.
The victims were on their way to the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office to serve as reactionary standby support force when the mishap occurred.
