Oliver Tolentino's creations for Lani Misalucha got stolen in Las Vegas

The stolen couture pieces are worth thousands of dollars

Filpino singer Lani Misalucha opened the month of April on a high note with her a series of concerts touring the U.S. On the stage, she wore the creations of Beverly Hills-based Filipino couturier Oliver Tolentino. Unfortunately, during her stop in Las Vegas on April 3, the six pieces made by the designer were stolen.

“The theft occurred as the singer was traveling back from a sold-out show at the Pala Casino Spa Resort in California,” the designer’s team said in a statement. “Lani had just driven back to Las Vegas where she lives. Her entourage stopped to eat a late meal at a restaurant with the clothes in the car just outside. When they returned to the car they discovered the back window was smashed and the clothes gone. A few equipment items were stolen too.”

With one more show left, Lani scouted Las Vegas to search for garments she could rent and use for her coming performance in Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City this Saturday. While pieces worth thousands of dollars were lost, Oliver still come to help the singer, producing a new gown and lending some ready-to-wear pieces from his atelier for her to bring to New Jersey.

“I’m just glad that no one was hurt in the theft and that Lani and her husband Noli are safe. Clothes are replaceable,” Oliver said. “At least Lani was able to use the clothes for all of the tour’s shows except for one remaining show. I watched her performance and she looked beautiful in the clothes and sang beautifully.”

This is not the first time Oliver helped a kababayan abroad during a fashion crisis. Back in 2015 during the Miss Universe pageant, the fashion designer came to help eventual winner Pia Wurtzbach by offering his red evening gown for her to use during the preliminary competition.
