Twitter will finally give us an edit button

Twitter has recently confirmed that they are working on an edit button, since last year.

Twitter even gave us a sly wink, saying they didn’t get the idea from a certain poll, and they’ve been working on this since last year. Though they didn’t specify when.

Former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, who handed the reins to Parag Agrawal in November last year, has always been against having an edit button. Dorsey said in 2020, via Wired, that Twitter started out as an SMS service, and once you’ve sent an SMS text, you can’t take it back. Dorsey said they wanted to preserve that “vibe.” He mentioned issues like how people could be retweeting different things hours later should the original tweeter decide to edit their tweet.

It would be interesting to see how Twitter would try to solve this in the future.
