Presidential candidate Senator Manny Pacquiao maintains that he isn't bothered by the latest Pulse Asia survey results, where he only ranked fourth in the Palace race.

Pacquiao said Wednesday, April 6 that his whole efforts are now only focused on getting poor Filipinos on his side.

“Hindi ako nakatingin sa survey ngayon. Ang focus ko ay iyong mga taong maaabot ko, iyong mga mahihirap. Iyong nasa D-E class (I don't look at the surveys now. My focus is on the people who I can reach out to, the poor, those belonging to D-E classes),” the lawmaker told reporters ahead of his motorcade in Caloocan City.

Pacquiao aims to earn the support of those belonging to the lower economic classes, as he said his fight is not only his fight, but also that of Filipinos who struggle in life and have no opportunity to succeed.

“Ang Manny Pacquiao na nanggaling sa mahirap, ito ay nakikipaglaban upang magkaroon ng magandang kinabuksan ang mga naghihirap na pamilya (Manny Pacquiao, who came from the poor, is fighting so that the poor can have a better future),” he said.

At any rate, the boxer-turned-lawmaker did not believe the result of the recent Pulse Asia survey, noting that the number of poll respondents does not really cover the entire voting populace. He also said Filipino voters can have varied political views.

In a recent interview with reporters, Pacquiao also asked “who would even believe” in Pulse Asia's survey, which previously showed that he received no voter support in Metro Manila.

"Dapat tinanong nila yung mga ano, baka yung mga mayayaman lang tinanong nila. Hindi nila tinanong yung mga mahihirap na tao (They should have asked... Perhaps they just asked the rich and not the poor)," he said.

He previously tagged pre-election surveys as a form of "mind conditioning".
