Jinggoy Estrada on Sharon Cuneta, Kris Aquino: 'I'm confident they will vote for me'

Senatorial aspirant Jinggoy Estrada said that he still loves Sharon Cuneta and Kris Aquino despite their political differences.

During a Zoom with the entertainment press on April 5, Jinggoy said that he's confident Sharon and Kris will vote for him in the 2022 national elections.


"Friendship should go beyond politics. I am confident Sharon Cuneta will vote for me," said the former senator.

On Kris, Jinggoy said: "She's my kumare. I am confident Kris will also vote for me."

In the upcoming elections, Jinggoy belongs to the UniTeam of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos and running mate Sara Duterte.

Sharon is the husband of vice-presidential aspirant Kiko Pangilinan who is the running mate of Leni Robredo. Kris has also expressed her support for Leni.

Jinggoy prayed for the fast recovery of Kris, who is diagnosed with health disorders. "I am really worried about her health. If she needs my help, I will help her.

Asked why he was running again, Jinggoy said: "Why not? Sa aking pakiwari marami pa akong puwedeng maitulong sa lipunan. Unang-una, naranasan natin itong pandemya at maraming nawalan ng trabaho. That's why advocacy ko rin ang pagbibigay ng trabaho sa ating mga kababayan."

One of the front-runners in the senatorial race this year, Jinggoy said that he rebrands himself as he joins the political race. He said that Inday Sara helped him change his public image.

"May sarili na ako ngayong PR. Dati naka chaleko ako. Pati si Inday Sara, pinuna nya ako noong nagcha-chaleko ako. Pinatanggal niya sa akin yung jacket, pina-ahit niya sa akin yung bigote. Para raw lumambot yung mukha ko sa tao. Kasi pag may bigote, medyo brusko ang dating ko. Sabi niya mag t-shirt ka na lang. Sabi ko, ma'm, how can I conceal my fats? Modesty aside, I look younger," Jinggoy said.

Jinggoy, 59, has been to four national campaigns since he first became a senator in 2004. In his opinion about the current national campaign, he said: "Almost the same pa rin naman. Mas mataas nga lang ang rates ng advertisement ngayon. Yun ang mabigat." He also believes that mainstream media is still the best avenue to campaign despite the presence of social media.

Asked if he believes in ratings, where he is currently in the top 12, Jinggoy said: "That serves as a guide. I'm a survey believer because they analyze where you stand. They analyze kung saan ka malakas at mahina. Tinitignan natin lahat yan."
