Senator Imee Marcos on Wednesday, April 6 exposed an alleged new "midnight deal" on sugar imports.
In a statement, Marcos called on Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar to desist from signing a new order to import 350,000 metric tons of sugar.
‘’Agriculture is already an epic disaster. Please, huwag na mag-midnight express pa! (Please, don’t sign a midnight express ),’’ Marcos, chairwoman of the Senate Economic Affairs Committee, said.
Marcos said the import order was approved by Hermenegildo Serafica, head of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
