Cloudy skies, rains over Metro Manila, other Luzon areas due to northeasterly surface wind flow

The northeasterly surface wind flow will continue to bring cloudy skies with rains over Metro Manila and some areas in Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, April 5.

PAGASA advised those in Metro Manila, Aurora, Bulacan, Cagayan Valley, and Calabarzon to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

The State weather bureau also continues to monitor a low pressure area (LPA) that was estimated at 305 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur as of 8 a.m.

“This weather disturbance remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours and is expected to move west-northwestward,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the shear Line is affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

In the next 24 hours, the LPA and shear line will bring moderate to heavy rains over Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

Central Visayas and Northern Mindanao will experience light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.

“Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA warned.
