BTS' Jin says he is okay after fans see him in pain due to finger injury

K-pop idol group BTS member Jin said that he is doing fine after fans watched him in pain during a live broadcast after the 64th Grammy Awards.

Last March 19, Jin underwent surgery in South Korea after injuring “his left index finger during his daily activities,” according to Big Hit Music.

“He consulted doctors and was told he required surgery as the tendons in the finger had been partially damaged. He underwent surgery to repair the extensor in his left index finger on the afternoon of Friday, March 18,” the agency previously said.

It said Jin’s “surgery went well according to the doctors. Jin was discharged from the hospital on the morning of Saturday, March 19 and has been resting. He will wear a cast for the time being for stabilization and a speedy recovery.”

During the Grammy Awards, Jin was wearing a cast on his left hand. After the show, BTS held a live broadcast on Naver V Live and talked about their experience at the Grammys.

In one portion of the video, when the champagne was opened, Jin was startled by the popping sound and appeared to have hit his left hand on his knee. He was seen in pain in the video.

Jin took to the Weverse app and posted that he is doing fine and not in pain.

"No, my finger really doesn't hurt. I still have the wrap on my hand, because it would need another surgery if there's a large impact on it,” he said, according to SBS News.

He added, “So, if I pretend like it hurts, people are cautious around me. This is a tip for you. It honestly doesn't hurt!"

“The extensor tendons run along the back of the hand and wrist and extend the fingers. These are tendons you see on the back of your hand when you flex the fingers,” according to the Florida Bone and Joint Specialists website,

It said extensor tendons are injured through “traumatic injuries or lacerations” as these “are so close to the skin. They can also rupture as a result of excessive swelling from a fracture or rheumatological condition.”

“In addition to occupational therapy, it is crucial to have a therapist make a custom splint for the patient that accounts for their individual level of injury to increase the chance of optimal outcomes. We often send the patient to the therapist before surgery to get acquainted with the process and to make a splint,” it said.

After the Grammy Awards, BTS will hold their “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage-Las Vegas” concert on April 8, 9, 15 and 16 at Allegiant Stadium.
