Legarda eyes livelihood programs for Quezon province folk

House Deputy Speaker and senatorial candidate Loren Legarda says that she will push for the implementation of livelihood and social services to marginalized communities in the Quezon province.

“When I started in public service in 1998, the people of Quezon province did not hesitate to offer their support. I am so grateful to them and to compensate their generosity, I will ensure that the province will not be left behind in terms of government assistance and programs,” Legarda said in a press statement on Monday, April 4.

In her statement, she cites several livelihood and funding programs that she previously pushed for in the province.

These include: the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker (TUPAD) funding for Quezon province local government units; funding support for the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Quezon; and skills training programs lead by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for citizens of the province.

Aside from social services for marginalized communities, some of her other campaign promises include pro-environment legislature.

Legarda, who previously served three terms in Senate, is a Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) stalwart. She is running in the May 2022 polls as part of the UniTeam alliance led by presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
