LPA to bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao in the next few days — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, April 4, continued to monitor a low pressure area (LPA) east of the country as it may bring rains over a large portion of Visayas and Mindanao in the next few days.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA has entered the Philippine area of responsibility and was estimated at 970 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar at around 3 a.m., Monday.
It remains less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone but may bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao in two days, Aurelio said.
He said that the shear line, intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and easterlies remain the dominant weather systems in the country as of Monday.
In the next 24 hours, the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan Valley.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may also affect Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Eastern and Central Visayas due to the ITCZ.
PAGASA advised those affected by the shear line and ITCZ to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides because of the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience hot and humid weather due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country, but PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
