DOH records 2,679 new COVID-19 cases in the past week, 329 deaths

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, April 4, a total of 2,679 new COVID-19 cases in the past week.

Monday's weekly case bulletin was recorded from March 28 to April 3. There was one additional case tagged under critical and severe cases.

According to the case bulletin, the seven-day average daily cases is currently at 382, which is two percent lower than cases from March 21 to March 27.

DOH also reported that there are 692 patients or 11.9 percent of the total Covid-19 admissions with severe and critical Covid-19 infections.

The health agency also reported 329 more deaths due to COVID-19. This is a sharp decline from last week's 729.

Of the 329 deaths, 116 occurred in March 2022 (35.3 percent), 81 in February 2022 (24.6 percent), 50 in January 2022 (15.2 percent), five in December 2021 (1.5 percent), four in November 2021 (1.2 percent), 16 in October 2021 (4.9 percent), 14 in September 2021 (4.3 percent), nine in August 2021 (2.7 percent), 13 in July 2021 (4.0 percent), 19 in June 2021 (5.8 percent), one in May 2021 (0.3 percent), and one in March 2021 (0.3 percent).

Meanwhile, DOH said that 66 million individuals or 73.47 percent of the target population has been vaccinated against Covid-19 while 12.1 million have received booster shots.

Also, a total of 6.6 million senior citizens or 75.83 percent of the target A2 population has so far received their primary series.

On the other hand, 492 or 16.5 percent of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are utilized while 4,230 or 17. 7 percent out of 25,340 non-ICU beds are being used.
