Scattered rains still expected in Palawan, Mindanao due to ITCZ
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan and parts of Mindanao over the next 24-hour period, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, April 30.

“ITCZ ang nakakaapekto dito sa Palawan at Mindanao. Samantalang easterlies naman ang umiiral sa nalalabing bahagi ng bansa (ITCZ affects Palawan and Mindanao. Meanwhile, easterlies prevail over the rest of the country),” said PAGASA weather specialist Samuel Duran in a public weather forecast.
PAGASA is currently monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). It was last spotted 1,110 kilometers (km) east of Mindanao and it remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression.
This weather disturbance, however, is expected to bring rains in eastern Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the next 24 hours due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
