Crowd sign suggests UniTeam victory party on EDSA; find out Bongbong's reaction

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga--The UniTeam grand rally at Robinsons Grounds here Friday night, April 29, had all the usual sights of a grand rally--a big crowd, a fireworks display, a performance from rapper Andrew E., and eye-catching signs from the attendees.

However, there was one particular crowd sign that stood out, for the simple fact that it caught the attention of both presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

"Nakakataba naman po ng puso na marinig at makita yung mga placard ninyo na talagang halatang halata naman na kayo ang gumagawa ng bawat isa sa inyo (It warms the heart to hear and see what you have to say on your placards which obviously you made personally)," Marcos said during his speech at the rally as he surveyed the sea of supporters for handheld signs.

He then chuckled as he read the words on one sign: "Excited na kaming pumunta sa EDSA para sa victory party (We're excited to go to EDSA for the victory party)."

"Sa EDSA ba tayo? (Are we going to EDSA?)" the Ilocano candidate asked the crowd as if to check if they were serious about the "suggested party location". The people here cheered.

Just minutes earlier, during her own speech, Mayor Duterte also saw the "victory party" sign and was visible amused. The face paint-wearing lady executive read the sign out loud, and then turned to Marcos behind her to check his reaction.

Referring to the signs and placards that he saw at the event, Marcos said "Mas malaki at mas makabuluhan po ang inyong pagbati sa amin sa pamamagitan ng inyong ginawa na mga placard na ito (Your greetings are greater and more meaningful through these placards that you've made)."

A potential victory party for the UniTeam tandem of Marcos and Duterte in EDSA in Metro Manila would be interesting to say the least.

EDSA is both the location and symbol of the 1986 peaceful revolution that led to the ouster of Marcos's father, former strongman President Ferdinand Marcos.
